Move your existing (legacy) segments to the new Segments tab without rebuilding them, one at a time or in bulk. Moving converts the existing segment: it leaves the legacy tab and becomes an editable segment in the new tab.
Once moved, you can edit the segment using the new filters, including filter groups and AND/OR logic.
Keela checks each segment and only moves it if the new version returns exactly the same contacts. Segments that can't move stay on the legacy tab and keep working where you use them.
Move your segments
- Go to Contacts, then open the Segments tab (the one without the NEW badge). The new Segments tab is marked with a purple NEW badge.
- Select the segments you want to move using the checkboxes. To select every segment on the page, use Select This Page. An N Selected count (for example, 1 Selected) shows how many you've chosen.
- Open Actions and select Move to NEW Segments.
4. Review the message: "Move N segments to the new Segments tab? Each list stays the same. Segments that cannot move stay here." Select Confirm to continue, or Nevermind to cancel.
- A progress window shows Moving N of N while Keela processes your segments.
- When it finishes, check the status of each segment (see below).
What each status means
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Moved | The contacts matched exactly. The segment has been converted and moved from the legacy tab to the new Segments tab, where you can edit it. |
| Skipped (yellow) | A filter or setup isn't supported for moving yet. The segment stays on the legacy tab. |
| Failed (red) | The contacts didn't match exactly. The segment stays on the legacy tab. |
| Blank | The segment hasn't been processed yet. |
See why a segment didn't move
Hover over the info icon beside a Skipped or Failed status to see the reason:
- "unsupported value" or a filter name means a filter can't be moved yet. See What can't be moved below.
- "contact ids differ" means the new version returned a different list of contacts.
A different contact list doesn't necessarily mean something is wrong. For example, the new tables calculate dates using your organization's time zone, which can produce different results from legacy date filters even when the setup matches. If the contacts differ, Keela leaves the segment unchanged on the legacy tab. You can rebuild it in the new Segments tab instead.
Filters no longer available
The following filters are no longer available in the new Segments tool:
- Peer to Peer Fundraising, such as Team and Frequency.
- Wealth & Demographics, such as Unemployment Rate and Home Owner.
- Segments, which filters contacts based on whether they're in another saved segment. Use filter groups with AND/OR logic to combine criteria within a single segment instead.
Contact Support if you need help identifying or replacing a removed filter.
What can't be moved
A segment is skipped if it uses even one unsupported filter, including:
- The Segments filter (nested segments), described above.
- Contact fields combined with an interaction filter.
- The first gift filter.
