Have you ever had a donor that wishes to remain anonymous, or have donations that came from an anonymous donor? This article outlines different strategies for managing Anonymous donors and donations.
Anonymous Contact Profile
If you have anonymous donations, you can always Create a Contact Record and use 'Anonymous' as the 'First Name'. You can then log any anonymous donations under this contact profile.
If you are importing anonymous donations, you would just want to make sure you have 'Anonymous' as the 'Full Name' or 'First Name' when importing.
Keep in mind, if transactions are being processed via Keela (manually or via Keela Form), a Primary Email Address will be required. Make sure to use an email that is unique to this specific contact. Each contact profile should have a unique Primary Email.
Anonymous Donor Preference
If you have donors where you want to keep their Full Name in the system so it is present on donation receipts, but the donor has an 'Anonymous' preference, there are a couple of ways you can manage this.
- You can create an 'Anonymous' Tag, and add any Contacts who wish to remain anonymous to that Tag. This way the Tag is displayed right in their Contact profile.
- You can add a Custom Field called something like 'Anonymous Status' with a Yes/No answer type. This way, you can update the Contacts preferences by adding information to the Custom Field in their profile.
Anonymous Form Submission
At the moment, if someone makes a donation through a form, they will be required to enter their full name and address. This is because Keela sends out an automated donation receipt when someone makes a donation - name and address are required information for tax-deductible receipts.
However, if you want to collect an anonymous preference through a form, you can Add a Custom Quesiton to your Form such as "Do you wish to remain anonymous", and link the responses directly to a Custom Field such as 'Anonymous Status' in Contact's profiles! This way you have their preference stored.
