Note: This only applies to all Donation Forms built with our Old Builder and Stand-Alone Forms built with our New Builder. It does not apply to Pop-Up or Embedded Forms built with our New Forms Builder.
Whether you've embedded your form on your website, shared the Public Link on social media or even attached Email Marketing to your form - it's important that you can make changes to your form within Keela and have those automatically reflected on the form.
You can make changes to almost everything on your form and these will be reflected on your form. The only exception is your Form URL.
What happens if I change the URL of my Form?
If you make a change to the Public Link on your form after it's been published or shared via a QR Code, the old URL or QR Code will no longer work (because you've changed it). Any donor who tries to access the old URL or QR Code will receive an error as they link they are trying to reach no longer exists (you've changed it to a new one).
If you edit your Public Link of your Old Keela Donation Form or New Standalone Keela Donation Form, you'll need to re-share the new link or QR Code again.
Is that the only thing that can't be updated without needing to re-share the form?
Yes! Any other changes that you make to your form will always be automatically sent through to your published forms - no matter where they are.
This the beauty of Keela forms which are linked based. Every time folks load your form, they are actually loading this Public Link. They can load the form by clicking on a public link or loading the iframe embedded in your website with some code.
As long as that link doesn't change, you're always guaranteed to have the most up to date data displayed on your form if you need to update it in the future.
What if I want to change the link to my form?
Things change, we get it - that's why we have this functionality! But we want to make sure that you're not causing any issues for old donors in the process.
Have you shared the Public Link or QR Code of this form with donors?
(1) No - It's a completely new form.
No worries then! Feel free to change the URL and share the new link or QR code with all of your supporters. Easy peasy!
(2) Yes - I have shared it in the past.
In this case, you'll need to consider things in a little more detail. If donors attempt to access the old URL or QR code that you shared with them previously, they'll receive a broken link. Instead of changing the Form's URL, we recommend Closing the Form and creating a new one. This way, you can choose the URL of the next form and update the Closed Form Page to direct to that new form. All your bases are covered!
If in doubt, ask Customer Care at support@keela.com - we're always happy to help!
