How to Change a Contact Type
To change a Contact Type, head to the Contact's profile that you want to change. Click on the three little dots in the Profile overview. Select 'Change Contact Type' from the dropdown.
You will then be prompted to type 'CHANGE' in the pop-up field to confirm the action.
What Happens When You Change the Contact Type
When you change Contact Types, the majority of the information the record holds will be migrated over to the updated Contact record (yep, that includes transactions)! However, there are a few exceptions to this that we have identified below. Note: these notifications will also appear in-app when you change Contact types.
When changing contact type from Individual to Company, the first, middle, last names and titles will be lost.
When changing contact type from Company to Individual, the company name will be parsed into first, middle, and last names.
If you try to change a Company Contact that has Associated Contacts to an Individual Contact, you will be prompted to remove the associations before proceeding.
If you try to change an Individual Contact that has an Associated Company to a Company Contact, you will be prompted to remove the associations before proceeding.
