Do you have memberships that are being processed or stored outside of Keela? Then you've come to the right place!
In this article, we'll be looking at everything you need to know about tracking legacy memberships in your Keela account, as well as our recommendations on how to transfer the processing of the payment for these over to the Memberships tool (optional!).
Bringing the legacy data into Keela
Step 1: Setup your Custom Fields
Navigate to Organization Settings > Custom Fields to set your Custom Fields for Memberships.
We recommend using a "Legacy Memberships" Section and then include all the applicable fields under that section to keep everything organized.
Step 2: Import Contacts and Membership Data into Keela
Import your contacts into Keela with the custom field data for their membership information.
Congratulations - your historical membership data has now been entered into Keela!
Transitioning legacy data and payments to the Membership Tools in Keela
This is an optional step, but you'll likely want to utilize Keela's membership tools going forward for your contacts! We recommend taking care of this transition at the contact's membership renewal or end date.
Moving to a new system and getting everything set up again can take time and in the nonprofit world, time is often in short supply! Wherever possible, try to use the Keela system to do the heavy lifting for you so that you can get back to your impact.
