There are two Contact types in Keela. There are Individual Contacts and Company Contacts. Individual Contacts refer to individuals while Companies refer to entities such as organizations, companies, government organizations.
Has a new Company appeared in Keela, and your not sure why? Below are all the ways new Companies are created in Keela.
How are companies created in Keela?
There are four ways that Company records are created:
- Manually - by adding a new Company contact manually in Keela.
- During Import - when the 'Company' field is filled in alongside an Individual Contact Record during an import, a Company Contact is automatically created along with the Individual Contact.
- Associated Company - when you add an Associated Company to an Individual Contact in the Contact's Profile under 'Associations', a new Company record will be created.
- Submission via Keela Form - When an organization submits a response to a Keela form, they will be added as a Company contact automatically (unless this organization is a pre-existing contact).
If you want an Individual Contact to have an associated Company, but do not want a Company record created, we recommend you create a Custom Field to store the Company that you want associated with that Individual Contact. This way you will be able to see the associated Company under Custom Fields in the Contact's Profile and a new Company record will not be created.
