There are several tabs that can be accessed within a form. In this article, we're going to take a look at the Setup tab.
Important Note about Form Types
The Setup tab looks a little different depending on what Form Type you chose when you created it. Use the Contents section of this article to jump ahead to the Form Type you're creating today (Donation, Revenue or Membership)
Alternatively, if you are creating a Subscription or Custom Form, skip to the next article - These Forms don't have amount/payment/plan settings.
Donation Form Settings
Donation Amount
(1) Allow Contacts to make Donations that are...
Choose the donation frequency options that will be available on this form:
- One-time or Recurring - Donors will be able to choose for their donation to be either a once-off payment or a recurring payment that will be charged each month moving forward.
- One-time Only - Donors will only be able to make a once-off payment through this form.
- Recurring Only - Donors will only be able to make a recurring donation payment through this form.
(2) Organize By
You can choose for some preset donation amounts to appear on your form. This will encourage your donors to give specific amounts and is a best practice to increase your average donation amounts.
Donation Tiers (Monetary Amounts Only)
These are dollar amounts only and are not connected to any specific cause area in your organization.
Impact Areas
These are dollar amounts that are also linked to specific programs, initiatives or cause areas in your organization that you've added as Impact Areas to your Keela account. You will be able to report on those donations that have been contributed to specific Impact Areas.
Smart Ask
If your Contact opens a Donation Form from Email Marketing sent by you, the Smart Ask option will suggest donation amounts based on the Donation History in that Contact's Keela profile.
Tip: Learn more about Smart Ask Donations Forms here.
Payment Processors
On the Payment Processor, you can choose which Payment Processor you want for your form.
You can decide between Stripe or Keela Pay (US customers only) and you can also add PayPal as well.
Please note that this would only be visible for Forms that have payments: Donation, Revenue or Membership Forms.
Customize Visible Fields
There are a few different options that you can make available on your form - click on the toggles beside each option to activate them!
(a) Custom Donation Amount
Provide your donors with the option of specifying their own donation amount. You can even provide a brief description for this amount (ie. Give what you can)
If selected, this is what your donor will see on the form:
Note: if you have Impact Area Donation Amounts on your form, the Custom Donation Amount will be an option for each of your Impact Areas, not just one. When someone enters a Custom Amount, it will go towards the Impact Area that is selected on the form when the Custom Amount is entered.
(b) Donation Dedication
Use this option to provide your Contacts with the ability to dedicate their donation to someone special!
If selected, this is what your donor will see on the form:
(c) Cover Processing Fee
Both Stripe and PayPal offer a non-profit discounted processing fee of 2.2% plus 30c of every transaction (general). By activating this toggle, you provide your Contacts with the choice of donating this amount on top of their donation.
If selected, this is what your donor will see on the form:
Don't pay 2.2% plus 30c? You can update this default processing fee by visiting the Payment Processing tab in your Organization Settings.
(d) Cumulative Receipting
If your donor chooses to make their donation a recurring donation, the cumulative receipting option can be a great way to keep their receipts organized! Instead of receiving a receipt straight away, they will receive one total receipt at the end of the year which contains all receipts for that recurring donation.

FAQ
Why doesn't the calculated processing fee match exactly what is listed on my account?
Keela makes a calculation based on the processing fee that the Payment Processor is going to charge on the overall total donation amount that gets sent to them. For example, rather than charging the processing fee to a $20 donation (= $20.74), the Payment Processor will add a fee to the total amount paid (ex. 20.74 + fee). Therefore, the total charged will be slightly greater than the Donation + Payment Processing Fee to account for this and ensure you organization doesn't have to cover the remaining amount.
What's Next?
There's a whole other section of the Setup Tab that allows you to adjust the fields and questions that are on your form. Head over to 4. Adding Fields or Questions to your Form to learn more.
